These birds are breathtakingly beautiful. We have the Flame or Red Factor Sun Conures that are the most colorful, even as babies. They can be delightful, affectionate pets with guidance and early nurturing. They are playful, energetic clowns who love to fly to you and do acrobatic tricks.

 

They can be extremely noisy, but much of their noise can be directed into talking and whistling. From our experience, we have noticed the correlation between the bird's noise level to the noise level of the home. We had a "Sun" in our home for 18 months that we named "Love". "Love" was really quiet and loving, hence her name. She went to another home with small children and became quite noisy. Sun Conures really do like the Happy Hut, a soft tent that hangs in the cage. They enjoy being handled and hugged. All members of the household should handle the bird to keep it from becoming a one-person bird. Again, early nurturing and socialization are extremely important.
